Social Language Individual and Group Therapy
Social learning group sessions are available to students with social pragmatic difficulties. Sessions focus on facilitating friendships, promoting self-regulation, building conversation skills, and teaching higher level social thinking concepts such as perspective taking and social problem solving. Shannon draws from the Social Thinking methodology.
She has completed clinical training under Michelle Garcia Winner and Pam Crooke and works part-time at the Social Thinking clinic in San Jose.

Shannon is offering summer social groups and individual sessions for preschool, elementary, middle school and high school students through Social Learners SF. Groups will meet weekly for 90 minutes at the Social Learners SF clinic starting June 17th.
Summer groups will explore the Social Thinking methodology through fun, play-based, small group sessions. We’ll explore social concepts through activities including: collaborative play, arts and crafts, group projects, cooking, outdoor activities, planning and executing a group outing, digital communication and more.

Individual Speech and Language Therapy
Speech and language therapy sessions are held in clinic, school, daycare or via telehealth. Sessions are meant to be fun and engaging and activities are chosen based on the child’s specific strengths and interests. Following an assessment or 2-4 therapy sessions, treatment goals are written based on the child’s level of development and goals are targeted during therapy.
Evaluations
Shannon offers speech and language assessments to children who are new to speech therapy or who have not had an assessment in the last six months. Following caregiver interview and completion of a questionnaire, the appropriate battery of testing is determined and the child is evaluated. A comprehensive report including recommendations and treatment goals is provided to the caregiver.
Screenings
Shannon is available to conduct speech and language screenings for private schools and daycares to determine if formal evaluations are necessary for any of their students. Screenings are quick and informal and take into account any information from teachers or caregivers.
Parent trainings
Shannon is a Hanen-certified SLP trained to provide the following programs: It Takes Two to Talk for parents of late talkers, More than Words for parents of young children with ASD, and Talkability for children with social pragmatic disorders. Parent trainings run over 8-10 weeks with weekly lectures to go over strategies for promoting language development in the home. There are 3 video modeling sessions in the home where parents are coached on using the strategies with their children. Please inquire about current parent trainings offered.
Staff trainings and in-services
Shannon has provided university lectures and staff trainings on a variety of speech and language related topics including Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), promoting language development during circle time, and speech and language development in the preschool population. Please inquire if you are seeking training for your school or organization.
